AceProject Enters the Android Market

It’s been one year since we launched our mobile web app. The number of mobile users increases every day, and although some features have yet to be added to the mobile app, the users are delighted by AceProject Mobile.

That being said, AceProject is a web app, not a native app. There is no store for web apps, but we found a way to enter the Android Market and reach Android users more easily.

Basically, we built a native Java Android app which empowers users to connect to AceProject in a more convenient way. Furthermore, this native app has a “remember me” behavior (just like Facebook, for instance). As a result, you remain logged in for as long as you want to. No need to go through the login page anymore. For that specific reason, current Android users should download the native Android app to benefit from this awesome advantage. It can be downloaded by clicking the badge below:

As always, your comments and feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Finally, we would like to offer our warmest Holiday wishes to all our customers, fans and followers. We’re all set for 2012. We have a lot on our plate, so we hope you’re ready!

Version 2011.11.29 – Drag and Drop Upload

The drag and drop upload is now available at the task level. This feature will empower users to simply drag a document to the upload window rather than using the “Browse…” button. Up to 10 documents can be uploaded simultaneously. This feature will be available for project documents shortly.

Here’s a screenshot of how the upload feature looks like:

We also improved ergonomic elements, as per customer suggestions. Among other things:

  • We added a project tab slider that lets you view all your open projects more easily.
  • We also added a skinning property that lets you adjust the padding between lines in lists.
  • The global search now lets you search within hyperlinks.

The “Portfolio -> Projects” and the Admin pages can now be open upon login. Finally, when deleting multiple documents, a single notification is sent rather than one for each document.

Mobile Version 2011.11.30 – More Accessible Time Clock + Recent Tasks

It’s been a while since we’ve worked on AceProject Mobile. Today, we are glad to announce 4 improvements :

1. The Time Clock can now be started from the dashboard. No need to open a project and a task anymore. Actually, choosing a project and a task will be done once you click the Time Clock on the dashboard.

2. Recent projects are available during the clock in process.  The corresponding drop-down shows recently-used projects.

3. Recent tasks are also available during the clock in process. The corresponding drop-down shows tasks you’ve recently clocked on and/or edited.

4. My Assigned Tasks and My Tasks to Review now show up as 2 separate items in the dashboard.

Here’s a screenshot of the updated time clock:

We are working on several other things these days. We’ll keep you posted!

A Website Update and What’s Coming Soon

We just applied a fresh paint layer on our website. Our website hadn’t been refreshed for about a year. Therefore, we’ve decided to adapt its look and feel to the new AceProject. From now on, we want to update both the application and the website more often.

It’s been a couple of weeks since we launched our new design. Our customers are pretty thrilled about the “New AceProject”. We received lots of comments and many of them helped us tweak quite a few things, fix bugs and add elements to our roadmap. We are still working on the documentation, so please be patient. All help pages will be updated in the foreseeable future.

That being said, we are currently working on 2 features that will be much appreciated.

  • Drag & Drop Document Upload - Right now, you must use the good old “browse…” button to reach a document. We grew tired of this outdated method of upload and decided to move forward with drag & drop and a progress bar.
  • Recurring Tasks - This is perhaps one of the most requested features on our wishlist. Basically, this feature will let you create recurring tasks based on a pattern (frequency, number of occurrences, etc.). Hence, you won’t need to copy the same task over and over for that matter.
We’ll keep you posted.

The Rejuvenated AceProject

We are extremely proud to announce the official launch of the biggest enhancement in AceProject’s history, that is, a complete redesign of the interface.

The new interface was initially launched as a private beta. Then, a couple of weeks later, the beta was made public. Now, here we are, the new interface is now the official one for all AceProject users.

AceProject never looked so handsome! We are proud of the whole AceProject team. Each every team member was involved in the process.

Among other enhancements, the new interface includes:

  • Multi-project tabs that let you open as many projects as you want.
  • A global search box that lets you search among all tasks you are allowed to see.
  • A search box at the project level that lets you search tasks within a specific project.
  • A side bar in edit forms.
  • Sections in edit forms and search filters can be shown/hidden in accordance with your needs.
  • “Remember filters” option in task lists and easier-to-find actions.
  • Enhanced overall speed and more functional screens.
  • And much more…

Here are three screenshots of the new interface:

Here are a few comments we received from satisfied customers:

  • The new interface looks great. Much easier to use.
    - Richard Merrill
  • My team and I have been working with the new interface for the last couple of days and are very pleased. Still exploring, but find the GUI to be intuitive and attractive – thank you!
    - Pat Bastian
  • Love that we can have multiple projects open!
    - Patti LaChapelle
  • Love our Aceproject account and much thanks and kudos to the team for upgrading and improving the product.
    - Chris Cantley
  • The user interface has significantly improved! My compliments.
    - Jan Willem Bartz
  • The new design is very nice and clean, well done.
    - Jason Skowronek
  • I love the software – and I have tested about 20 other packages before deciding on Ace as my final choice.
    - Geoff Hicks
  • So far I’m loving AceProject. It’s blowing the pants off BaseCamp (which we’ve been using for about 3 years) and Liquid Planner (which we tried but it miserably failed for us).
    - Ralph Severson

Bottom Line

This is the beginning of a new era for AceProject. Other important changes are coming by the end of the year and next year as well. Stay tuned!
